WR Maurice Ways is #7!

Michigan received their seventh 2014 commit on Friday afternoon, as Detroit Country Day wideout Moe Ways committed on an unofficial visit. Moe is a big target, he stands at 6'3 and 195 lbs. He's a fast rising prospect in the rankings and will continue to rise this year with him going to camps and playing as a senior. Ways has only played varsity football for his Junior season, so no one really had that much tape on him. He's a sleeper prospect, Michigan got involved early and they liked him. Michigan offered him earlier in April and he said he knew right away that Michigan was the place for him. Moe Ways also has offers from: Ball State, Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan, Iowa, Kansas, Ohio U, Pitt, Rutgers, Toledo, and Western Michigan.

By the time Signing Day rolls around, Michigan might have themselves a steal in Moe Ways. He's a consensus three star right now, but don't be shocked if he's a consensus four by Signing Day. This is Michigan's second WR commit, the other being 4 star Drake Harris. Ways and Harris are both outside downfield wideouts, and Michigan needs three receivers in this class. Look for Brady Hoke to look for a slot receiver like 4 star Artavis Scott. Go Blue!

Ian Bunting Commits to Michigan!!!!

4 star TE Ian Bunting committed to Michigan tonight, as he becomes Michigan's sixth commit for the 2014 class. Bunting stands at 6'6 and 215 lbs. He is pass catching type of TE, who even spilt out and played WR in high school. Ian has great hands and will be a great red zone weapon for the Wolverines. He has offers from all over: Notre Dame, Ohio State, USC, Oklahoma, Virginia Tech, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Missouri, Oregon, as well as others.

Bunting fills a need at TE, as Brady Hoke takes at least one in every class. Ian will most likely be the last TE commit in the 2014 class. Michigan picked a good one to get. Bunting has potential through the roof once he fills out his frame, and can do that redshirting his first year since the Wolverines will already have Funchess, Williams, Butt, and Hill. Go Blue!

Drake Harris goes Blue!!!

4 star WR Drake Harris committed to Michigan on Sunday for the class of 2014. Drake is a top 50 player nationally and one of the best wideouts in the nation. He was originally committed to Michigan State due to the fact that he was going to play football and basketball in college. Drake is a top 100 player in the nation for basketball as well. But then Harris decided to just go with football in college, so he re-opened is recruitment, and now committed to Brady Hoke and Michigan!

Drake Harris has offers from all over. He can go anywhere he wanted in the country and picked Michigan, I think it's pretty safe to say Michigan got a good one here. Go Blue!

#1 Overall Recruit Visits Michigan

The #1 overall recruit in the 2014 class, DE Da'Shawn Hand, visited Michigan this weekend. This is a huge deal. Hand is that kind of difference maker recruit. He's that Clowney, or Nkemdiche player. Da'Shawn is 6'4 and 245 lbs, and is a constant player in the offensive backfield. Hand is from Virginia and is good friends with 2013 Michigan signee Derrick Green. Green is recruiting Hand along with many other Michigan commits.

Da'Shawn Hand's visit sounds like it went extremely well. He tweeted that he loves Michigan and needs to come back soon. If Michigan can get a top player like Hand, it opens a lot of other top recruits eyes, and they sometimes follow the lead (look at Ole Miss's 2013 class). Stay tuned. Go Blue!

4 star 2014 OL Mason Cole Commits!!!

Today, the Michigan Wolverines received a commit from OL Mason Cole. Mason is 6'4 and 270 lbs, he visited this past weekend along with many other top targets for Michigan. Cole is the first OL commit in the 2014 class, and is the fourth commit, with 16 expected in the small class. He is a consensus four star, and has offers from all over (Alabama, Arkansas, Clemson,. Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Notre Dame, Ohio State, South Carolina, Stanford, Tennessee, USC, and Wisconsin.

Great early get for Brady Hoke and Michigan. Cole is teammates with 4 star WR Artavis Scott, as well as 2015 5 star ATH George Campbell, who want to be a packaged deal, so that comes as a big bonus from Mason Cole as well as his great play and future. Go Blue!

DT Bryan Mone is Commit #3!!!

2014 4 star DT Bryan Mone committed to Michigan this afternoon. Mone is a consensus top 150 recruit in the early 2014 recruiting rankings. Mone held offers from Oregon, Ole Miss, Stanford, UCLA, and Wisconsin. USC and Notre Dame were also pursuing him, but were yet to offer. From what I have heard, most scouts think Mone will finish in the top 100 if not higher. They compare him to Ondre Pipkins in Michigan's 2012 class.

A really good get here by Brady Hoke and Michigan early in the process. Mone is the third commit in the 2014 class, joining LB Michael Ferns, and QB Wilson Speight, as Michigan hopes to have another strong class. Go Blue!

2013 Signing Day Recap

Michigan had a very uneventful day on Signing Day today. Their were no surprise commits or thankfully, any de-committs. Michigan finishes 6th in the team rankings on Rivals.com and ESPN.com. While Michigan finishes 2nd on Scout.com. So it averages out to be a top five class for Brady Hoke and his staff. We are going to go through all 27 commits and their chances of playing early. We are going to use Scout's rankings here, which I always do. Go Blue!

5 star QB Shane Morris- Shane was the first to commit and he let everybody know about it. He's a very talkative guy, who really helped out recruiting the others in this class. He was an Under Armour All-American. Shane has great arm strength and is a great leader, the kind you want leading your team and playing QB. He needs to work on his accuracy though at the next level. Shane Morris is without a doubt the future at QB for Michigan football, and he will get his chance to compete right away. Devin Gardner will most likely be the starter, but Shane will push Russell Bellomy for the second string job.

5 star S Dymonte Thomas- Dymonte is a very good athlete. He was also recruited at RB by some schools, so he has a lot of versatility. He's a hard hitter and has great instincs as a DB. He will most likely play strong saftety for Michigan the next four years. I don't think he redshirts, as Michigan loses Jordan Kovacs. He's the kind of talent that it's hard to keep off the field. He's already enrolled at Michigan so that definitley helps him. The strong safety spot next year is wide open, so you never know, but if I was a betting man, I say he either redshirts or plays special teams. He was also a Army All-American.

3 star TE Khalid Hill- Khalid is a very good pass catching TE. He has great hands, and runs routes like he's a receiver. He's a tough matchup for the defense, but he needs to work on his blocking at the next level. Look for a redshirt next year.

4 star CB Jourdan Lewis- Jourdan Lewis is a ballhawk. He comes from a Michigan pipeline, Detroit Cass Tech. He is very quick, and has great awarness and instincs for a DB. He's a great athlete. Some schools recruited him as a WR. He was an Army All-American, and really stood out in that game. The only thing holding him back is his size. He's 5'9 and 160 lbs. He will most likely redshirt for that reason, so they can put some meat on him. Put look for this kid to see the field fast, once he adds some muscle to his frame.

4 star DE Taco Charlton- Taco is one of my favorite players in this class. Not only because his name is Taco, but the guy knows how to get to the quarterback, something Michigan struggled with last year. His superior athleticism is helps him with that. He's a big kid too, stands at 6'6 and 235 lbs. He moves really well, but needs to add muscle to him to make him that much better, which he is already doing because Taco enrolled early and is already on campus. Probably a redshirt this year, but look for him to get some snaps as a redshirt freshmen.

4 star OL Chris Fox- Chris will most likely be a offensive guard at the next level. He's a bruiser at 6'5, 285 lbs. He's very strong, but needs that quicker step to him, which will come with coaching. He was an Army All-American, but didn't play in the game due to an injury. Look for Fox to redshirt this upcoming season.

4 Star OL Kyle Bosch- Bosch is a very versatile OL. He can play either the guard or tackle position. He's got quick feet and has the mean streak to him. He's 6'5, 285 lbs, so his body is Big Ten ready. I would not be surprised if Kyle made the two deep this upcoming fall. He's currently on campus as he is already enrolled.

4 Star FB Wyatt Shallman- Wyatt is another one of those versatile prospects for the Wolverines. He can play fullback and running back, as well as some DE. Different schools recruited him for all three of those positions. Shallman is one of those tough nosed kids, who do the little things, and can't have enough of on your team. He will most likely redshirt this season.

4 star OL Logan Tuley-Tillman- Logan was an Under Armour All-American this year. He played really well in that game, pancaking a few defensive lineman. He's a big kid. He's 6'7, 295 lbs and has really quick feet, which is why Logan will play offensive tackle at the next level. His blocking technique needs to get better, and will be working on that right away, since Tuley-Tillman is also enrolled early. He is on the fence for redshirt and in the two-deep so we'll see. Being already enrolled will definitely help.

4 star TE Jake Butt- Jake is another one of Michigan's recruits that has already enrolled. He has great hands and has good length and size. Jake is 6'6, and 220 lbs. Butt could see the field early and will expect to see him at TE in some packages this year. Jake Butt was also an Army All-American.

3 star WR Jaron Dukes- Dukes is a very physical WR. He's 6'4, and 200 lbs. Michigan likes wideouts who can block down field, and Jaron fits that bill. He's got good hands and is a great redzone threat. He lacks that break away speed though. Look for him to redshirt.

5 star OL Patrick Kugler- Patrick Kugler blocks how a offensive lineman should block. He blocks mean. Every play he tries to put the defender in front of him on his back, and most of the time he's successful. Look for Kugler to come in and compete for the starting center spot right away, and possibly win it. He will compete with Sophomore Jack Miller for it. Kugler was a Under Armour All-American.

4 star LB Michael McCray- Michael is a very physical LB. He is a sure tackler, and sheds blocks off very well. He lacks good speed but is not slow by any means. He also needs work in coverage, as some plays in the future he might have to match up with TE's or FB's. Look for Michael to redshirt. He was also an Under Armour All-American.

4 star RB DeVeon Smith- Everyone talks about Derrick Green when they talk about Michigan RB's in the 2013 class. DeVeon Smith should be talked about. DeVeon is a bruiser. He's 5'11, and 210 lbs, and is tough to bring down. He has good vision and is tremendous balence. He does lack break away speed, but again, he is not slow. Smith will probably get redshirted next year, but look for him to have impact on the field soon after that.

4 star LB Ben Gedeon- Ben is another one of those tough LB's. He is a great tackler, and is quick on his feet with good awareness. Gedeon also has great instincs. He does lack in coverage, like McCray, so the coaching staff will have to work with them both on that. Look for a redshirt this year.

3 star WR Csont'e York- York is one of those under the radar guys in this class. York has tremendous hands, and is a very good route runner. He's a big target at 6'2, 180 lbs, he's the kind of receiver that if you lob it up for a 1 on 1, he'll come down with it. Csont'e isn't the fastest guy. He runs a 4.53 forty time, and he lacks elusiveness after the catch. York will most likely get a redshirt.

4 star DT Maurice Hurst Jr.- Maurice is a very big fella, at 6'2, 300 lbs. But he doesn't move like it. Hurst is very quick for his size and has the quick first step. He needs to add muscle to his frame and needs to play with better technique. He is a run stuffer and can also get to the QB. Maurice could push for playing time this year, but I'll predict a redshirt.

4 star DT Henry Poggi- Poggi is another Under Armour All-American. He played really well in that game, forcing havik in the backfield. Henry is a high motor lineman, who has a really quick step and is good at shedding blocks. He needs to add some more muscle to his frame, but I think you will see Poggi be in some packages this year, and play.

2 star LS Scott Sypniewski- Scott accepted an offer to Michigan to become a long snapper, and only a long snapper. Brady Hoke said today he always offer a long snapper one he needs one. Look for Scott to redshirt and then play the year after that.

3 star CB Channing Stribling- Channing is a diamond in the rough kind of prospect. He's that tall corner that Greg Mattison likes and he can match up with anyone on the field at anytime. He's 6'2, 171 lbs, he has great awareness, and is a ballhawk. Stribling needs to add weight and muscle, so look for Channing to redshirt this year.

3 star CB Ross Douglas- Ross is one of six Michigan commits already enrolled early. He was formerly committed to Penn State, then Michigan got him to flip. He's a physical corner, who isn't aftraid to come up and hit you at 5'11 and 180 lbs. Look for Douglas to redshirt, but don't be surprised if he doesn't and slides in there on special teams next season.

3 star WR Da'Mario Jones- Da'Mario is a very good athlete. He has good hands, and has that perfect combination of size and speed. Jones stands at 6'2, 185 lbs, and is elusive with the ball in his hands. He's a receiver who can do a lot of damage with yards after the catch. His route running technique needs some work, so look for Da'Mario to redshirt. After his redshirt, look for Jones to breakout. One of my sleepers in this class.

4 star S Delano Hill- Delano is a very physical DB. He's a great tackler, but his technique for coverage needs defining. He has the instincs every coach looks for in a safety. Look for Hill to redshirt, and see some packages in the defensive back after that.

4 star OL David Dawson- Dawson originally committed to Michigan last February than decommitted in October, then recommitted in December after realizing Michigan is the place for him. Dawson was an Under Armour All-American, with a strong build. He will likely play guard at the next level. He needs to add some more muscle to his frame. I believe Dawson will be in the two deep for OL next year.

4 star OL Dan Samuelson- Dan was committed to Nebraska, then Michigan got him to flip. He's a tough lineman with a nasty streak to him. His technique needs work, as well as more muscle. Look for Sameulson to redshirt next season.

3 star CB Reon Dawson- Reon flipped from Illinois to Michigan in January. Dawson is good cover corner, who has great instincs, and is ballhawk back in the secondary. He needs a little more weight to his 6'2, 175 lbs frame, but that will come. Reon has a lot of potential, so look for him to redshirt next year.

5 star RB Derrick Green- The prized recruit of the 2013 class for the Michigan Wolverines. Derrick is a physical back who will plow you over or break your ankles. Derrick is 5'11, and 220 lbs. He has great vision, to top it with 4.4 forty speed. He's rated as the number 1 ranked RB in the nation. Green will compete right away next fall for the starting RB spot, along with Fitz Toussaint, Thomas Rawls, and Justice Hayes. I expect Green to win that battle with Fitz later in the year spelling each other once Fitz gets healthy, as Derrick Green looks to start all four years at Michigan, and be the next great Michigan running back.

Overall, a really tremendous class for Michigan. Some argue it's the best in Michigan history, but you have to wait until these guys get on the field to determine that. It was a pleasure following this 2013 class, and I can't wait for the 2014 class. Brady Hoke and his staff really took a big step forward, as Michigan looks ahead to a very bright future, with hopefully championships to come. Go Blue!
